Das US-amerikanische “Rolling Stone”-Magazin - das Leitmedium der Musikbranche - hat zuletzt 2004 eine Liste der “Besten 500 Songs aller Zeiten” veröffentlicht. Nun hat das Magazin nach 17 Jahren(!) die Liste aktualisiert…
Nach 17 Jahren hat der “Rolling Stone” seine Liste aktualisiert - das erste Update seit 2004; wenn man sich das in Technologie-Schritten vorstellt war die bis gestern aktuelle Liste aus der IT-Steinzeit: der erste Apple iPod (was ist das?) wurde 2001 veröffentlich, das erste iPhone kam 2007 an den Start, das erste iPad datiert mit Jänner 2010.
Das beste und wichtigste Lied stammt nun von Aretha Franklin (zuvor Rang 5). Auch sonst haben einige “neuere” Titel Einzug in Top Positionen gefunden: #20 “Dancing on My Own” (Robyn, 2010), #25 “Runaway” (Kanye West, 2010) und #30 “Royals” (Lorde, 2011). Andere wie beispielsweise “The Times They Are A-Changin’” von Bob Dylan (zuletzt auf Rang 59) sind nun komplett aus der Rangliste geflogen.
Sicher ist - die neue Liste wird für viel Diskussion sorgen, da sie offensichtlich nicht nur musikalische Kriterien berücksichtigt sondern sich auch sehr stark an aktuellen politischen Themen orientiert - wieso wäre sonst ein Song ala “Fight the Power” (Public Enemy, 1989) nun plötzlich auf Rang 2 - auf der “alten” Liste hat’s nur für Platz 322 gereicht, und musikalisch gibt das Stück sicher nicht das zweitbeste Stück aller Zeiten her…
